The epidemiological context of dengue in Brazil is unstable, alternating between endemic scenarios and epidemic outbreaks. Given the possibility of worsening symptoms associated with this disease, the prevention and control of vectors remain the most important measures for significantly reducing these cases. Therefore, the general objective of this research was to study public awareness in the fight against dengue in the state of Minas Gerais, specifically in the city of Uberlândia. Additionally, the specific objectives of the study were to demonstrate the importance of raising awareness in combating dengue and to evaluate the support provided by healthcare professionals to the population in this context. The research methodology applied was bibliographic, through a descriptive literature review on the subject. The results showed that methods such as biological control, health education, and adequate basic sanitation are key pillars for reducing dengue cases. However, new preventive methods are being developed and appear promising, such as genetic modifications of vectors and vaccination—measures that are essential given the recent surges observed in the region of Minas Gerais. Therefore, it is concluded that this research holds significant academic relevance, considering that dengue is one of the main endemic diseases in Brazil and its cases are progressively increasing.
