Abstract

This study analyzes the process of searching for and using information in the preparation of homilies by priests of the Forania of Guarabira-PB, Brazil. It is characterized as exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative approach, using a questionnaire as the data collection instrument. The results indicate a diverse profile of priests in this Forania, with a predominance of younger clergy. The sources consulted in the preparation of homilies include books and online resources. It is highlighted that live broadcasts of Masses through social media impact the way homilies are prepared, requiring time dedication from priests. Social media also provide new ways of obtaining feedback through interactions from the faithful in live-stream comments. It is concluded that pastoral experience is mentioned as the main influence in the preparation of homilies and that the clergy of this Forania is prepared to meet the needs of the communities they serve regarding homilies.
