Reviewing concepts and understanding terminologies
a critical approach to terms in educational science
Keywords:
semantic terminology, concepts, literacy, alphabetizationAbstract
The evolution of scientific thought gives rise to new concepts, new phenomena, new procedures, new devices, and new techniques that are only established through Terms so that they can have a communicative function and circulate in society. The creation of Terms occurs through various processes to encompass new discoveries and new perspectives. In Educational Science, in recent decades, a sequence of terms in the semantic field of Literacy and Alphabetization has circulated in academic literature and school discourses. With the aim of understanding the concepts involved in this field, we adopted the methodological procedure of Terminology to, within a specific scope of literature in the area, identify contexts for the recognition of the terms in circulation; not with the objective of developing a terminological vocabulary, but to understand the concepts and analyze the use of Terms, their intersection with words already existing in language and science, as well as their use in the school environment, based purely on observations in the daily routine of our teaching practice.
