The Brazilian Law 10.639/03 is a strategic instrument aimed at recovering the contribution of African history and Afro-Brazilian culture to the formation of Brazil within the context of basic education. In general, the Law seeks to incorporate the teaching of African history and the fight against racism into school curricula. Proper knowledge of this history helps break stereotypes and becomes an important ally in combating racial discrimination both inside and outside the classroom. The Law highlights the contributions of Black people in the social, economic, and political spheres, fostering classroom discussions that promote a change in perceptions regarding the African heritage.
