Supervised internship in literature and the sacred
an academic perspective on the collection of the Juarez da Gama Batista Library
Keywords:
library, religious collection, religious studies scholar, internshipAbstract
The present work is part of the Supervised Internship I of the Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies, with the aim of experiencing in practice the work developed by a religious studies scholar, taking into consideration the specificity of the religious field and its phenomena as objects of research. The methodology used consisted of a case study, and qualitative and quantitative analysis criteria were applied to carry out the evaluation. The work was a practical experience at the Juarez da Gama Batista public library, located at the Cultural Space in João Pessoa-PB, involving a survey of its collection with an emphasis on the religious collection. Thus, it was possible to observe that there is a large number of books on religious literature and that these are predominantly related to Christian religions. It was possible to identify a large collection on the theme of Spiritism; however, for the library, this theme is not included within religious literature.
