About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Launched in 2021, the Ivy Enber Scientific Journal (IES) is a periodical publication of Ivy Enber Christian University dedicated to disseminating scientific production in the fields of Human Sciences, Health Sciences, and Applied Social Sciences. The journal welcomes contributions from Brazilian and foreign authors, prioritizing studies that critically engage with the thematic fields mentioned, in accordance with the principles of interdisciplinarity, scientific innovation, and social commitment.

The journal accepts contributions in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. All submitted texts must include titles, abstracts, and keywords in the three languages. The journal publishes several types of manuscripts from different areas of knowledge in the following categories:

Article: Presents original scientific themes or approaches (research reports and/or experiences, case studies, theoretical studies), contributing to the expansion of knowledge previously established in the field; or review articles (with analysis and discussion of previously published ideas, literature reviews, as well as methods, techniques, processes, and results);

Review: Appreciation and critical analysis of recent works.

Extended Abstracts: Extended abstracts produced by researchers in the fields of Human Sciences, Health Sciences, and Applied Social Sciences are accepted.

Exceptionally, texts previously published in conference proceedings or excerpts from monographs, dissertations, and defended theses will be accepted (provided that this condition is clearly stated in “Comments to the Editor”). In this case, the manuscripts will be subject to the same double-blind peer review process, with the possibility of waiting for publication in future issues, respecting the maximum limit of one publication of this type per issue.

Publication Frequency

The Ivy Enber Scientific Journal (IES) is a journal that receives and publishes submissions on a continuous flow basis, open to authors throughout the year, aiming at regular editions published in two issues per year.

This journal allows extraordinary calls for the publication of thematic dossiers, with specific submission and publication periods independent from the regular issues, without previously defined periodicity.

Ethical Commitments

The Ivy Enber Scientific Journal (IES) follows the ethical codes, best practices, and transparency guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics in order to maintain the originality and quality of the published works and to safeguard the community of authors, reviewers, and editors that compose it.

In cases of suspected ethical misconduct, it is possible to contact the journal through the email scientificjournal@enberuniversity.com. Complaints will be properly registered and investigated by the Editorial Board, which will proceed in accordance with the ethical conduct procedures indicated by COPE, including responding to the complainant and, if necessary, retracting content.

Authors, editors, reviewers, proofreaders, and readers have ethical responsibilities and commitments related to their roles within the journal.

Commitment of Authors

Submit original and unpublished texts in which all authors are fully aware, properly referenced, and registered on the journal platform. The author assumes responsibility for their text. Passages without appropriate citation and reference indications will be classified as plagiarism, including those sharing authorship with the manuscript itself (self-plagiarism). All sources of information must be explicitly stated in the text, including image sources of all types (whose authorship must also be indicated) and links. By submitting a text for evaluation, authors guarantee that there are no conflicts of interest regarding the publication of the text. If the manuscript results from funded research, the type of support and the funding institution must be clearly stated.

The same manuscript cannot be submitted simultaneously to the Ivy Enber Scientific Journal and other publications for evaluation. After its exclusive submission to the journal, it is necessary to wait for its publication or explicit rejection, the latter releasing it for new submissions to other journals. Upon publication of the text, authors commit to promoting the dissemination of the issue, as well as updating the production in their curricula (especially Lattes and ORCID), among other author indexing networks and databases (such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, etc.), linking it to the journal.

Commitment of the Editorial Team

Conduct an evaluation process free from discrimination based on race, gender, ethnicity, nationality, political ideologies, religious beliefs, among others, applying the principle of equality in the treatment of submissions, considering scientific content and methodology, the relevance of the research, and its contribution to the field. Select qualified reviewers and referees and ensure a double-blind review process. Act attentively and promptly to the demands of the journal community. Promote broad dissemination of our scientific production.

Commitment of Reviewers and Proofreaders

Carry out critical and constructive reviews of submissions in order to maintain academic rigor and encourage the improvement of scientific productions. Not retain or make use of information and content contained in evaluated texts, whether in written or oral form, before they have been published and can be properly referenced. Comply with established deadlines.

Commitment of Readers

Mention the source and authorship when sharing or referencing any content published by the Ivy Enber Scientific Journal (IES). Notify and report to the Editorial Team any suspicions of ethical misconduct related to the journal.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public promotes greater worldwide democratization of knowledge.

Double-Blind Review Evaluation

The evaluation of manuscripts submitted to the Ivy Enber Scientific Journal (IES) is conducted in pairs through the Double-Blind Review method, in which each manuscript is evaluated by two external ad hoc reviewers selected according to specialty or thematic affinity with the manuscript content. Most journal reviewers are external to the publishing institution, and the journal also includes a large number of reviewers from outside Brazil.

After submission, the manuscript is evaluated by ad hoc reviewers, who analyze it and suggest corrections and improvements. Subsequently, the editor conducts the analysis, resolves controversial cases, reviews opinions, and decides on the rejection or acceptance of the manuscript.

After the editor’s analysis, the manuscript is returned to the authors for the implementation of the improvements suggested by the reviewers.

Finally, the author submits the final version of the manuscript together with its similarity detection software report. The final version must be submitted using the journal’s official template, in which informing the ORCID of all authors is mandatory.

The evaluation process is blind, without the identification of authors and ad hoc reviewers.

The annual list containing the names of all ad hoc reviewers is published in December.

The time between article submission and the first response from reviewers is up to 120 days. The time between submission and publication is also up to 120 days.

Among the main advantages of the double-blind review process adopted by the journal are:

a) anonymity of both author and reviewer, ensuring impartiality in the evaluation process;
b) greater credibility and prestige of evaluation processes;
c) improvement in the communication process of research results.
